Decker Machine Works is a contract precision manufacturing company, specializing in the fabrication of multi-axis machined parts to customer specifications across a broad spectrum of materials from polymers to super-alloys.

The production assistant is responsible for manual manufacturing duties including post-processing of machined products such as tumbling, deburring, and cleaning parts to prepare them for QC inspection and shipping. Production assistants load and run tumblers for automated deburring and polishing, manually deburr and polish parts on grinding/buffing wheels and finishing paper, and wash/clean/dry parts using a variety of methods. Production assistants read and interpret technical drawings, generate process and inspection documentation for duties performed, measure product to ensure conformity to specifications, communicate with co-workers regarding production runs, perform regular maintenance on post-processing equipment, and maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment.

Must be able to multi-task. Must work well under pressure and be able to manage changing deadlines and priorities. Must be willing to cross train and assist other work areas when needed.


  • Must be detail-oriented, have high manual dexterity, and be able to sit and/or stand for long periods.
  • Ability to learn how to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Applicants should be able to demonstrate basic math skills, have high attention to detail, good documentation and communication skills, hands on practicality, time management, basic computer skills, and the ability to quickly learn and apply new skills.
  • Prefer (but do not require) experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation commensurate with experience and mastery of required skill set, compensation for full-time employees includes paid company holidays.

Part-Time Benefits include: Paid Sick Time, Matching IRA Retirement Contributions (up to 3% of earned income)

Full-Time Benefits include: Same as above, plus Paid Vacation Time
